Batteries
π Battery FAQ β Powering Your TAV Kit
Do your kits come with a battery?
No β our mid-drive conversion kits are sold without a battery. This gives you the flexibility to choose a battery that fits your needs, your bike frame, and your budget. It also helps reduce shipping costs and avoids the complex regulations around transporting lithium-ion batteries.
What kind of battery do I need?
Our kits are designed to work with 36V lithium-ion batteries. Youβll want a battery with the following specifications:
Voltage: 36V (not 48V)
Discharge Current: Minimum 15A continuous
Connector: XT60
Capacity: 10Ah to 17Ah is typical, depending on your desired range
Cell type: Lithium-ion (Samsung, LG, Panasonic cells preferred)
Where can I buy a 36V battery in Australia?
Here are some trusted Australian suppliers:
- Elemex | Premium EBike Batteries, Chargers & Conversion Kits
- rev-bikes.com/collections/batteries-chargers
- Batteries For Electric Bikes | Pirez Electric Bikes | E-bike Battery Melbourne
Be sure to check shipping timelines and warranty conditions.
What battery size should I get?
This depends on how far you plan to ride:
Battery (Ah) | Approx. Range* |
---|---|
10Ah | 30β40 km |
13Ah | 45β55 km |
17Ah | 60β80 km |
*Estimates based on moderate pedal assist, average terrain, and a single rider.
Can I use a second-hand or recycled battery?
We donβt recommend it. Faulty or untested batteries can be dangerous. Always use a reputable battery with built-in BMS (Battery Management System) to prevent overcharging, overheating, and fires.
Do you offer battery support or recommendations?
Yes β if youβre unsure, weβre happy to suggest a few models based on your riding needs and bike frame. Just reach out via our contact form or live chat with your bike details.
Where should I mount the battery?
Most riders mount it in one of these places:
On the down tube (inside the main triangle)
On a rear rack (if your bike already has one)
In aΒ frame bag (for stealth setups)
We recommend checking your frame space first before buying a battery.
What safety tips should I follow?
Never leave a battery charging unattended
Use the charger provided by the battery supplier
Donβt ride with a visibly damaged or swollen battery
Store your battery indoors, out of direct sunlight
Avoid charging immediately after a long ride (let it cool)
